Non invasive prenatal testing (similar to the “Harmony test”™)
Non invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is available to patients privately at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital.
Similar to the “Harmony test”™, NIPT is a technique for prenatal screening for Downs Syndrome (trisomy 21) as well as other abnormalities like trisomy 13 and 18. As opposed to amniocentesis or CSV, the test is completely non-invasive and there is no risk to either yourself or your baby.
What does the test involve?
The examination is carried out by a simple blood test, any time after ten weeks gestation. The result is usually available within seven to ten days.
A follow-up appointment will be booked in when you are 12 weeks pregnant for a private ultrasound scan, where you will be told the estimated due date of your baby, as well as having nuchal translucency test and general checks on your child’s development so far.
How much will it cost?
The pricing list for all our scanning and private counselling services can be found here.
When and where do you run the NIPT service?
The scanning service takes place at the Centre for Fetal Care, 2nd floor, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, Du Cane Rd, London W12 0HS.
We offer early morning and evening appointments for your convenience.
