ABOUT WESTERN EYE HOSPITAL
Our ophthalmology service is delivered at the Western Eye Hospital, a renowned, stand-alone ophthalmic hospital and teaching centre which has been established since 1865.
Our highly skilled specialists can support you with everything from common eye problems to complex ophthalmic issues.
State-of-the-art equipment, including the latest optical coherence scanner, which provides high-quality images of the retina, enables us to provide you with the very best diagnostic options.
We offer private services at the Western Eye and have a five-bed private facility on site for inpatients and day cases.

GETTING TO THE WESTERN EYE
Travel by Train
The nearest mainline stations to the hospital are Marylebone and Paddington. Both stations are within ten minutes’ walk.
Alternatively, Marylebone, Edgware Road and Baker Street underground stations are all five minutes’ walk away.

Travelling by Bus
The 2, 18 and 27 buses stop outside the Western Eye. For more in depth details click here for bus routes to the hospital.

The Western Eye hospital can be reached via the A40, A41 or A1. Please be aware that Western Eye Hospital is located within the congestion charge zone and parking is very limited nearby, so public transport is recommended.
There are a few parking spaces for disabled badge holders near the hospital. Please check the Westminster City Council website for the exact locations of spaces.
If you are travelling from overseas, London is well served by airports.
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is 18 miles (29km) from the hospital and takes just under an hour by taxi. The Heathrow Express train travels directly in to Paddington and takes less than 20 minutes.
London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is approximately 30 miles (50km) from the hospital and takes around 1 ½ hours by taxi, depending on the time of travel. London Gatwick is not served by the Underground network but there is an express train service available to Victoria Station, which will get passengers in to London in approximately 35 minutes. Please allow for onwards travelling.
Stansted Airport (STN) is 42 miles (68km) from the Lindo Wing, which takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes in a taxi. The Stansted express train goes directly from the airport to Liverpool Street tube station in 47 minutes. Please allow for onwards journey time by tube.
London City Airport and Luton Airport are also within two hours journey from central London.
