Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) diagnosis and treatment

Our obstructive sleep apnoea diagnosis and treatment service can help you investigate the causes of your sleeping problems.

If you are troubled by snoring and/or poor quality sleep at night, our specialist sleep consultant at Charing Cross Hospital will be able to provide a diagnostic service to investigate the causes of your sleeping problems.

We are able to offer full investigations into obstructive sleep apnoea, a condition where throat muscles relax during deep sleep, temporarily impacting on your breathing. Symptoms of sleep apnoea can include extreme tiredness during the day and if left untreated can lead to further health problems, so early diagnosis is recommended.

You will be seen by our specialist sleep consultant and will stay with us in a private room overnight where we will be able to monitor your sleep pattern and assess your likelihood of sleep apnoea.

The overnight stay allows you to be monitored non-invasively during sleep and to investigate your breathing pattern, oxygen levels, heart rate and nasal airflow.  This determines the presence and severity of OSA. The study is scored by a sleep physiologist and interpreted by our consultant. On the morning after the study the consultant will discuss the results and treatment options with you and will refer you on for treatment if necessary.

Our consultants are also members of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sleep medicine service, who have been recognised by the British Thoracic Society for their work in this area. Imperial Private Healthcare offers fast access to investigations and expert advice with the aim of improving patient sleep quality and well-being.
