Heart conditions, treatments and investigations

We investigate and treat the three broad types of heart disease and abnormalities

These are:

  1. Electrical – palpitations, including both fast and slow heart rates
  2. Structural – heart failure, leaking valves, heart murmurs or holes in the heart (ASD)
  3. Plumbing (coronary) – blockages in the arteries and vessels; chest pains, angina or shortness of breath, limiting oxygen flow

We also treat a range of other conditions including:

  • syncope (fainting, blackouts or dizziness)
  • high cholesterol
  • high blood pressure.

We provide the spectrum of non-invasive investigations and services, as well as key-hole cardiac surgical procedures. These include:

  • Angioplasty (balloon and stenting to widen narrow arteries)
  • Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Closure of holes in the heart
  • Computer tomography (CT) coronary angiogram
  • Coronary angiography
  • Echocardiography – 2D and 3D transthoracic and transoesophageal
  • Electrocardiograms (ECG), 24 hour Holter monitors, exercise treadmill testing
  • Electrophysiology procedures, including ablations for supraventricular (SVT) and ventricular tachycardia (VT)
  • Pacing, including implantation of simple and complex pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillations
  • Investigation and management of pre-syncope (fainting or blackouts), syncope and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (PoTS) including tilt table testing
  • TAVI (minimally invasive aortic valve replacement)
