Gender or sex reassignment
Genital reconstructive surgery
We are able to offer surgical treatment for patients looking for male to female genital reconstructive surgery (also known as gender reassignment surgery or sex reassignment surgery).
Our team can provide a range of surgical options including:
- Bilateral orchidectomy – the removal of the testicles
- Labiaplasty – the removal of testicles, shortening of the urethra and the creation of a clitoris and labia
- Vaginaplasty – the removal of testicles, shortening of the urethra and the creation of a clitoris, labia and vagina
- Revision surgery – to amend the appearance of previous genital reconstructive surgery
We are unfortunately unable to offer female to male gender reassignment at this centre.
Our genital reconstructive surgeons are experts in their field, and have trained under leading consultants in genital reconstruction. We have a full support team to guide you through your surgery, including specialist nurses so you will be in very safe hands.
Our service is fully compliant with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines , and we will never accept a patient who has not attended a gender identity clinic or has not been seen by a gender specialist in advance of care.
Support for patients with health problems
As we are part of a large acute hospital, we are also able to support you if you have any additional health concerns. We have the support of consultants with expertise in all medical areas, who will work alongside our surgeons to ensure that your surgery remains safe. Plus, if the need ever arose, we can offer the back up of intensive care on site, giving you additional reassurance for your safety.
