After undergraduate training in pharmacology and subsequently human and applied physiology, Dr William Oldfield trained in medicine at St. George’s Hospital Medical School. After general professional training he entered the north west Thames training programme in respiratory medicine. During this time he completed a PhD at the National Heart and Lung Institute before being appointed as consultant in respiratory medicine in 2003. He has subsequently held a number of management positions in Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
