Biography

Biography

Mr Fernando was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a Subspecialist in Urogynaecology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (St Mary’s Hospital) in 2006. He is also an honorary senior lecturer and an undergraduate personal tutor at Imperial College, London. He is a member of the RCOG Scientific Advisory Committee from 2018 and was a member of the RCOG Guidelines Committee (2014-2017) and was an editorial board member of the RCOG e-learning programme StratOG (2011-2014).

He is a member of the International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (FIGO) working group on pelvic floor dysfunction and ICS Ethics Committee. He also conducts national and international workshops to teach the doctors and midwives how to identify and repair perineal tears after childbirth. He is a guest lecturer at many national and international conferences.

2006 – Harold Malkin Prize for the best original research awarded by the RCOG

2003 – Overseas Fund Award – RCOG

2002 – Young gynaecologist award – Asia Oceanic Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
