Miss Judith Hunter has a particular specialism in all forms of breast reconstruction, especially using free tissue transfer (DIEP flaps) and transverse upper gracilis (TUG). Miss Hunter has set up a new breast reconstruction spoke clinic at Northwick Park Hospital with the local breast surgeons, making it easier for patients living in North West London.
Miss Hunter trained to a particularly high level in microsurgery, having undertaken three microsurgery fellowships, at the Royal Marsden and St Thomas’s Hospitals in London and a year in Australia, for which she was awarded the Royal College of Medicine Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship.
In her private practice, she specialises in breast reconstruction; breast asymmetry; breast reduction; breast uplift (mastopexy); augmented mastopexy; breast augmentation; fat transfer; abdominoplasty; brachioplasty; liposuction and thigh lift.
Miss Hunter carried out her MD research degree in the early detection of Skin Cancer at Cambridge University and is a Senior Consultant within the SkinHealth UK network, seeing patients referred regarding lesions and mole removal.
Miss Hunter has been a Senior Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial Private Healthcare since January 2015; she graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class degree and trained for over 10 years in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Cambridge, London and Melbourne, attaining her FRCS (Plast) in 2011 and her specialist registration in plastic surgery in 2013.
Miss Hunter supports the major trauma centres on call for lower limb trauma and visits Hammersmith Hospital to aid with complex wound repair; she is proud of maintaining the high quality expected at the Trust and enjoys working holistically with patients.
Miss Hunter has been able to develop her interest in teaching, having been formally trained to teach as a junior doctor at Cambridge University. In her current post, she has overseen the teaching rota; co-ordinated a microsurgical simulation training day; become a faculty member for clinical skills teaching and of the International Master’s in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Microsurgery; a judge at a national core trainee competition run by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) faculty at the Imperial FRCS (Plast) viva and ST3 selection interview courses; set up a microsurgery simulation lab and organised anatomy teaching and dissection in the anatomy department.
